Žitný ostrov in Colours
The two week long art camp is for artists (painters) from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia.
The aists getting inspiration by the wonderful nature and beauty of Žitný Ostrov, the Danube Island that was used to be called for centuries as the Garden of the Fairies. The visitors not only had the opportunity to see the masterpieces, but also to buy some of them. The whole sum that had been so collected was donated to the local orphan house. Every artist has also granted one or two paintings, works to the Kolping Family. These arts will be shown in the future Town Gallery.
SAINT STEVEN CULTURAL DAY In Veľký Meder
The festivity take place every year on August in Veľký Meder. The 4 day long festivity program contais Folklore dance, Folk art line – up, Goulash cook – out competition, concerts and outdoor mass.
Winter sale (Santa Claus day)
This time people could buy some intersting goods. Venders offers clothes, folk art goods, winter specialites like honey, boild wine.
There are a few cultural buildings in the town:
Community centre and cinema, Komárňanská street 18, capacity 400 persons, cinema 262 persons
Provides activities both children and adults including folk dance – Megyer Táncegyüttes, abdomen dance, City Dance Club: Sweet and Heartbreaker modern dance group. In addition provides language courses for English, German.

The museum was built in 1936. The constant exhibition presents contemporary objects, on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

A public library in Veľký Meder is easily accessible by the public.
It is essential part of the town education, which also provide other services, such as community meeting rooms, storytimes for infants.You also could find books, maps, newspapers, dictionaries, varied atlas, encyklopedias.

The future of Veľký Meder it‘s in the infants. Children's education begin in 2 municipal infant schools (in slovak and hungarian teaching language), where they gaining knowledge in a familiar atmosphere. In the commune there are 2 primary schools and 3 grammar schools. Music education existing in conservatoire.
